200 grams (7 oz) butter
1 ½  teacups sugar
4 eggs
2 teacups flour
3/4 teacup milk
1 teacup finely choppcd preserved cherry
2 envelopes vanilla (powder)
1 teaspoon baking powder

Cooking Directions: 

- Bring the butter to room temperature and beat it in the mixer. While continuing to beat successively mix in the sugar, the eggs, the vanilla, the baking powder and the milk. 
- Next, gradually add the flour and the cherries. Butter and flour a cake tin and pour in the batter. 
- Make sure the tin is only 3/4 full so that the batter does not spill over the edges, as it rises. 
- Bake in a moderate oven for about 20 minutes having only the bottom elements lit. 
- Continue to bake for another 35-40 minutes with both the lower and upper elements lit. 
When the cake cools down, remove it from the tin and garnish it with whipped cream and preserved cherries.
