Rice with green peas and mushrooms

Half kilo (1 lb 2 oz) long- grain rice
Half teacup mashed tomato
200 grams (7 oz) butter
Half kilo (1 lb 2 oz) mushrooms, sliced
1 kilo (2 lbs 4 oz) green peas
1 teacup cheese, grated

Cooking Time: 
20-30 minutes
Cooking Directions: 

- Clean and wash the rice and place it in a pot with boiling water. 
- Let the rice cook for about 15 minutes, then pour in cold water and strain it. 
- Heat a tablespoon butter in a frying pan and pour over the drained rice which, in the meantime, has been returned to the pot.
- Prepare the tomato sauce as follows:
- Heat a spoonful of butter in another pot; add the mashed tomatoes, season with salt and cook for 5 minutes.

- Shell the peas (in case that fresh peas are used), wash them and boil in salted water. When all the water is gone, drop a spoonful of butter and let them saute.

- Wash the mushrooms very well, strain and separately  saute them in butter as well.

- Serve as follows:

- Place the rice on a platter with the peas on one end and the mushrooms on the other. Sprinkle the rice with the grated cheese and pour the tomato sauce on top.
