Ingredients: 

1 cup ground walnuts
2lbs flour
1 tablespoon yeast powder
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1.5 cups vegetable oil
1.5 cups milk
2 eggs
For the syrup
3 cups sugar
1 cup water
 

Cooking Directions: 

- Warm the milk slightly and dissolve the yeast in it, add the oil and stir well.
- Add the eggs and the baking powder stirring continuously, gradually add the flour.
- Knead into dough and divide into two.
- To one half add the cocoa and knead lightly.
- Leave both pieces of dough to rise for half an hour. 
- Roll the dough out into two thick sheets about 1cm deep and place one o top of the other, with chocolate one on top of the other.
- Sprinkle with the ground walnuts, roll the pastry up and cut into round slices one finger wide with a knife.
- Place the rounds on a buttered baking dish and bake in a preheated oven at 350oF until golden.
- Prepare the syrup by boiling the sugar and the water for five minutes; pour it over the rounds as soon as they come out of the oven.
- Leave them to absorb the syrup and let to cool before serve.
