Preparation Time: 

1 wild duck, approximately 1 1/2 kilos (3 lbs 6 oz), 6 portions
1 kilo (2 lbs 4 oz) oranges 
1 teacup butter
2 onions, finely chopped 
1 wine glass orange juice 
1 wine glass orange liqueur
1 teaspoon basil

Cooking Directions: 

- Heat the butter in a pot. Over a medium fire, saute the onions lightly and add the wild duck portions. 
- Saute for another 10 minutes stirring constantly. Pour in the liqueur and the orange juice, add the basil, salt, pepper, and some water. 
- Let everything boil for about an hour and a half.
- In the meantime, peel the oranges very well, cut them into round slices and place them on one side of the pot.
- Continue cooking for a further half an hour (approximately). When there is very little sauce left in the pot, remove it from the fire and serve.
